Some history about Foxton Midweek league
Midweek League.From John Weeks (Foxton)

John Weeks
In about 1995 we had a few people in the club who were able and
willing to play bowls in the afternoon and a few other clubs had other
likewise bowlers. We had been playing the odd friendly games against
each other and as Chairman of Foxton ! called a meeting of reps from
those
cubs to a little meeting at our clubhouse. I suggested we might set
up a
midweek league to enable not only the experienced bowlers but others
in
the clubs to have a game and at the same time gain a little experience
of
competitive bowls. All present were very enthusiastic and so the midweek
league was born. We set up a set of simple rules. It would be EBA
Rules
(centre Jack) and would consist of three rinks of triples, and we
would play
on a Wednesday afternoon.
The league was to consist of the teams south of Cambridge so as to
minimise
the travelling. Refreshments after the game were to be just a cup
of tea and a
biscuit.
As we had started the league it was agreed that it be called The
Foxton Midweek League
and I would keep the results on my computer and secretaries would
ring the
results in to me after the game. it was all very low key and was intended
to
be a very friendly little league, I believe we started with about
six clubs but
others when they heard about it asked to join us. I believe the original
members were Foxton, Duxford, Little and Great Shelfords and Coton

Mr & Mrs Stephens With trophy
The trophy was brought with a small donation from each
club but I cannot be certain about that. When I left
Foxton Jack Cox agreed to take on the recording of results.
